Crystal Jewelry

Beleived to be the source of life force energy, crystals have a long history which dates to the Mesopotamian era. Back then, crystals were hard to cut and less refractive so the Mesopotamians devised an alternative process by adding lead oxide to enhance the brilliance of glass (which was rare and thus expensive in those times). In 1676, George Ravenscroft further improved and revolutionized the methods of adding lead oxide to glass which made it more brilliant and sparkling than ever. This brought forth the development of Lead Crystals.

The manufacturing of crystals grew towards the end of the 19th century when Daniel Swarovski devised a machine to cut perfect crystals automatically for the jewelry and fashion industry.
